Here, today, we come together as a people formed by our history yet not bound by history’s chains but committed to forge a just union. It cannot speak to us all while ever it does not speak to all of us. In so doing we commit to fulfilling our democracy’s promise. We cherish the foundations of our nation, and our rule of law and democracy. Though we may disagree, we find no enemy among us. Though our bonds may strain, we seek to live together in harmony. We honour too those who have come from other lands and carry with them their cultures and faiths. With their grace and generosity, we enter into their heritage and respect their traditions. Hosted by Professor Stan Grant Jnr, the pledge invites all Australians to set aside their historic prejudices, adopt Gulbali values of respect, kindness, quiet reflection, and justice, and in the spirit of Yindyamarra, engage in respectful conversation on the future of Australian democracy. On Monday, 17 October 2022, Charles Sturt University will launch the Yindyamarra Pledge for Democracy. Please make sure you purchase the Student ticket! $5.00 alumni tickets include entry, choice of 1 hot meal, 1 scoop of gelato, 1 can soft drink, 1 bubble tea, popcorn and snacks. Each attendee going will have to purchase their own ticket (though you are able to purchase multiple on the one transaction) i.e a family of 4 would purchase 4 student tickets in the one transaction. We would like to offer the Alumni network the opportunity to purchase tickets at a student rate of $5.00.
